It's all about the journey
We were lucky enough to have plenty of time to stretch our move into a road trip with four different stops between Madison and Seattle.
1. Denver: After an early departure from Madison we drove through the day to arrive in Denver around dinner time at Steph, Perry, and Aspen's apartment. We caught up over some dinner and wine, and the next day went for a hike in Boulder up to Mount Sanitas with Spencer.
2. Moab: We got another early start the next day to make it to Moab, UT. After striking out on campsites during our last trip to Moab we were hoping to have better luck as it was now later in the season. But it was the same story this time, every first-come-first-serve campground we pulled into was full so we moved on to plan D: a motel in Green River, UT. Before heading to our suite in Green River, we stopped for a hike in Arches National Park to the iconic Delicate Arch. The trail was crowded but it was a beautiful hike nonetheless.
3. Salt Lake City: After the shortest leg of the trip we arrived in Salt Lake City to thick fog and chilly rain, so we elected to stay inside and check out some of Utah's oldest residents at the Natural History Museum. For dinner we waited almost 2 hours for a table at Takashi for sushi, and who knew Salt Lake City would have the best sushi I've ever had? The strawberry fields roll and wok tossed asparagus were amazing. The next morning was clear and cool so we headed to the Big Cottonwood Canyon for a hike to Lake Blanche. It was a tough hike with 2,600 feet of elevation gain, but the views were well worth it and we rewarded ourselves afterwards with our first trip to In-N-Out burger. Yum!
4. Unfortunately we didn't have time to do Boise much justice and ended up staying in a cheap hotel overnight and having less than good pizza for dinner. But we'll get back someday to give it another try.
5. The home stretch. As we got closer to Seattle we suited up in our Packer gear and listened to the Packers lose to the Saints on the radio for their first full game without Aaron Rodgers. And after a few hours of driving through torrential rain we finally arrived at our new home for the next 3 months.
