Snow Geese On The Wing

An unexpected fun day with my blip buddy Mary Jo.  We were on a hunt for owls but learned that one of the best owl spotting areas around has been "reorganized" to allow for future flooding as a salmon habitat.  That means, of course, that the little critters the owls hunt have been plowed under or killed off.   So sadly, the owls have moved on but as yet haven't told us their new location.  A couple of birders we met said that past efforts in the area to do this "salmon rehab" thing haven't helped the salmon at all.   That makes it even sadder.

We did manage to find a couple owls, well hidden I might add, and not too eager to have their picture taken.   I don't blame them.

These snow geese were beautiful against the blue sky and fascinating to watch.  They moved like liquid and I was enjoying watching them so much I almost forgot to take the picture.
