Sad seats

I was at my desk for 6 hours writing up a 40 minute panel discussion. Transcribing doesn't describe it. Trying to work out what people are meaning to say without straying from their own words, yet judiciously editing them so that they make sense in written form, that's a challenge.  Add in a wide variation of accents, the lilt of people's voices that often drop off just at the most important moments, a sprinkling of technical language and a shower of acronyms and you are beginning to get the picture.  Slow going, and I still have another one to do. Needless to say I didn't get out of the house much today.  I had been looking forward to the photo opportunities that snowfall brings, but it didn't work out that way.  I thought that the two garden seats looked sad and cold and deserted in the snow.  They would be so much happier if N was sitting in one and I was sitting in the other, glass of wine in hand and sunshine beating down.  But that's a long way off. To paraphrase L P Hartley from the Go Between, the future is a foreign country, they do things differently there.  Roll on the summer of the future!
