I’m not sure much happened today. We are 6 hours ahead of Costa Rica so bt the time our flight left yesterday, it was today at home.

Our daughter’s BA pilot friend had requested an upgrade on account of our golden wedding, but it not was available - too many people already prepared to pay for the posh seats. However a glass of champagne arrived which was very nice. We slept a few hours, and arrived in Gatwick around 11.30am. Then we got the train, followed by the underground to Kings Cross, where we got the train north, arriving in Newcastle in time to get the metro out to see #3 daughter and children.

Ella was doing her reading and Nathaniel, still 3, was paying so much attention he was able to read / remember some of the words. His mum wrote some words down, and he read them. It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on at school - he is brighter than Ella, but she is determined, and refuses to give up, whereas if he loses interest, he shrugs and says “it doesn’t matter”.

We finally got home at 7.30 pm, after stopping at the co-opfor supplies. I took the Blip of our lovely old-fashioned Christmas lights strung through the trees from the car as we drove through the village.

The first load of washing is on. I keep looking for the bin to put the loo paper in - such luxury to flush it all away!
