On high alert

Tonight is the end of year meeting of the Dog Eared Book Club, of which S is a member. The women were meeting for a festive occasion as well as talking about books. S produced a magnificent Festive pavlova, which is my extra photo for today. There was no way she could get this concoction safely through the early evening traffic unless I drove and she carried. 

After leaving her there, I went to the Onehunga Wharf and had a walk along a walkway beside the Manukau Harbour edge. The tide was well out, it was by this time getting late and the waders were all absent from the mudbanks. There was a large flock of starlings and they flew into the nearby trees before I saw them in the grass.
