Resplendent Quetzals
It was a cold night. We were up at 5, dressed in several layers, to climb up the mountain a bit to see Resplendent Quetzals feeding off avocado trees just as the sun came up. They were splendid - in full flight and feeding, where I took pictures.
The sun came out when we came back for breakfast and set off out again up another mountain for a 5 mile walk in the oak forest. We saw some distant birds and a squirrel. We heard a chain saw bird and a squeaky gate bird. (I can’t remember their proper names, but those were the sounds they made). Then it was back to watch the pretty birds at the feeders, by which time the cloud was down and it was cold.
Our guide was saying the best way to stay healthy was to avoid stress. I said this was one of the most stressful holidays I have had as it was frustrating not being able to see the birds! He said to chill out. Consequently I have booked a Rio massage at 4 pm.
