The Village.

This area used to be The Moat Bing with the pit head within a few yards of this spot and the brick kiln on the far side of it. The pit employed about 750 people and closed in 1969 having had problems with spontaneous ignition. The railway ran past the mine but I can find nothing about where the clay for the bricks originated.
 
The bing was removed for road ballast some 25 years ago, ruining the local toboggan run, and the land left to wild itself; it is now considered a sort of nature reserve – though not by many of the local residents. Between the trees and the 50 year old Wimpey houses lies the building site featured in a few recent Blips; I’ve a feeling that the new builds are going to be a bit of an eyesore.
