Day 57 - Backbone
We drove from Rik and Christine's amazing house in Izegem to Luxembourg, a long journey. Lots of chapters of "The two week wait" by Sarah Rayner, the book I am currently hooked on and an episode of Ricky Gervais and Carl Pilkington. We got through two song in Luxembourg where contrary to our previous performances the police were out in force and wouldn't allow buskers of more than 4 people (we are a 7 piece band) or any buskers with amplification. (Apart from the drums we are all amplified... Without the electrics you would only hear drums....)
After a audience members suggestion we headed to Trier in Germany for a late/cold and dark but great performance/busking session. During our busking session a small boy with quiet clear special needs, maybe autism was rocking along to the music getting closer and closer to the band. (Riv almost stood on him he was so close feeling every vibration of the drums under his feet rocking from one foot to the next his hands flailing)
As his parents were leaving with him, Andy our drummer handed him one of his drum sticks. Which put a huge smile on my face. It was inspiring seeing him rock and knowing Andy is having a tough time with the tour as I am at the moment, he is still keeping his backbone and his heart intact... it made me smile seeing Andy smile. Underneath all of the drama a few of us have been built with backbones. Mine will bend and twist but no one will ever get the better of it...
Spotted this cloud in the sky in Luxembourg...
