Phlebotomy or Blood Sucking

Having been thwarted by a power failure last week of having some of my life blood drained for testing in my annual health MOT, I was obliged to return to the doctors’ this morning. The lovely practice nurse, Jennie, acting as today’s phlebotomist, has the gift of the needle and not only produces the goods as painlessly as a leech but can also give injections that I never feel. She would be an asset and extremely dangerous if recruited by the KGB or North Korea, if you see what I mean.

Some you yesterday tried to second guess the sources of the books piled at my bedside, but all got it wrong. The correct assignation is as follows:
Birthday present from HL- Hunter Davies- A Life in the Day
Book passed on to me- Elizabeth Stroud-Olive Kitteridge
Book to be read for next book group- Julian Barnes-The Noise of Time
Books bought for pleasure-Joanne Harris- Different Class and Peter May- Chinese Whispers

At the rate of bedtime reading they will last me a loooooong time!
