like delicate fingers pressed within an orange
smooth nails that dig deep
revealing citrusy flesh
in one magnificent stroke
careful and concentrated

strip this skin

dead the skin and dry the bones
peel these layers of dust and mold
discard it on the floor
in the heap beside that heap
heaps upon heaps
of old skin and orange peels
