Thank You For the Days ..

Storytelling

Tonight is a night for staying close to the fire and listening to tales of the uncanny, the ghostly perhaps ... or maybe just swopping stories with a dram or two, all in the time honoured tradition of gathering on a cold, dark winter's  evening.

It is very cold and dark, and as the light suddenly disappeared a few flakes of snow fell. But we are going out to listen to stories - told by Alex Salmond, ex MP, ex SNP leader, and now apparently setting out on a stage career. He launched this enterprise at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and now he's going on tour, starting with - Galashiels.

So we're off to the Volunteer Hall, where we're more used to jigging and reeling. The revues for the show are mixed. We'll see.

So we had our main meal at lunchtime, and a snack a little while ago.  The pot contains crowdie, a traditional part of the Scots diet that you don't see often these days. On the side is a little story and some neat graphics - of mice. Quite what it's all about, I couldn't really tell you.  I hope tonight's show will make more sense.

Afterwards we are driving up to Edinburgh - snow permitting.
