Little Gull
It was 0 degrees in Cockermouth at 8.00am as I headed down to Ambleside on a clear, crisp morning. I stopped to admire the reflections across Grasmere, and sitting on a boulder was this pretty Little Gull. At least, I think it's a Little Gull and not a juvenile Black-headed Gull, on account of its diminutive size.
I was struggling to keep my hands warm enough to take this photo. It's amazing to me how little creatures cope with low temperatures.
