Squeaky

Sore shoulder last night which involved pain killers during the night. I met eco son on his way in.

Even with a crap sleep I was up first, surprised the chickens with hot porridge as soon as they were out of the house.

I walked Juno over to the allotment. The crisp frost made for cold paws which caused a bouncing dog. The hill and surroudning area was quiet, most of the population enjoying a long lie.

I headed over Craiglockhart hill, met a friend running. Then met my old maths teacher so we had a big chat, what a lovely man.

Down to drop off some DVDs with just Sitting and to plan the day ahead.

We arrived at the allotment and I cleared out the greenhouses and collected the tomatoes(chutney again), gathered all teh dried shallots and garlic to bring home.

Committee meeting and Juno had to attend. I am now the site rep, well noone else would do it.

I met up with Just Sititng family and friends for a walk round my childhood haunts.

This gate was the opening to a steep grassy slope that we slid down on cardboard in the summer holidays. It was great fun. It was also the place that the hospital dumped needles and syringes that used to litter the top end.

The tree free slopes had bank voles running everywhere that we would try to catch.

My lasting memoery of this gate comes when we found a dead fox just inside up the hill under a huge sycamore. I looked ok, a female not long dead we thought. I ran home and stole a knife out of the kitchen, one the old style ones with a wooden handle. We then tried to find out how it died. I can still smell it now, it was stinking and the insides were decomposing.

Took the knive home and washed it and put it back.

Now the kids don't slide on the slope and trees have taken over, need to check out for voles.

I was chatting to girl at work who I was school with and we had a huge chat about this area, it was still fresh in my mind and I smiled when I saw it this morning.
