Diary of an Edinburgher

Pretzel visits

Pretzel came to bide with us for the morning while her mum went off painting. Actually, it turned into the whole day, but she's such a dear wee thing and is no bother.

Archie was quite reluctant to play with her at first, and did his grumpy old man routine - he stood by the kitchen door, wanting back in the house while she ran around the grass, trying to get him to chase her. What a woos!

But eventually, through her sheer persistence and personality, he could resist her no longer (she specialises in flopping flat on her back, legs akimbo, right under his nose) and they played and played inside, with the occasional mutually agreed short rest periods.

We took them up the hill. I'm not sure if Pretzel goes up there much, but it was very exciting for her, and we met lots of dogs.

I watched the tennis, though it wasn’t much of a match - too easy for Dimitrov. We've moved the bike back into the back bedroom, so it's now a gym again. The new (old) regime will start tomorrow. Just realised it won’t. Badminton tomorrow, and I have to go because Elsie paid my 50p for coffee and biscuits last week.

We walked along the road to visit our pals, and popped in to the wee new cheese shop on the corner to pick up some choice wedges to take. They specialise in Scottish and English cheeses. Archie did a few of his tricks for teeny bits of cheese, and impressed our hosts.

The walk back brought my step total to 8,733 today, so I’m fairly stuffed this evening.
