Bumblebee on Sage
My favourite macro camera has been playing up lately. Among other faults the auto-focus is not working as it should, and my eyesight has a similar problem. After agonising for some time I bought a new one today, same as the old one. I took it out to the garden to try it out. Here are the three best shots.
Above is a large garden bumblebee, Bombus_ruderatus, and in extra shots is a common blowfly and a garden soldier fly, Exaireta_spinigera. The latter has an amazing scatellum, a sort of shield between the thorax and the abdomen. It has rather spectacular spikes on it.
