Bored today? There is no excuse for boredom when you own a copy of 'Something to Do'! This was one of my favourite books when I was a child and I wrote my name and age in it every quarter of a year for a few years on the back of the cover!

Each month it has a poem, a bird, flower and pet then many an exciting activity..this month you can make an oven/coal glove or create 'Conker Tables and Chairs' out of conkers, pins and scraps of wood..I can imagine you all rushing out to collect those conkers now. So many things are out of date in the book now and it all seems so innocent! I've had a snigger or two at one or two things, plus I don't think they would suggest nowadays that, when you are out fishing, 'you can make friends with other fishermen if you want company'!

The really embarrassing thing is though, that sometimes I'd perform a 'Something to Do' show in front of my parents..how they must have wanted to have suffered and wanted to chuckle! This is not my original copy as that disappeared somewhere in a house move, but I remember telling my son about it and he surprised me by ordering me a second hand copy for my last birthday! I was actually really excited to see it again.!

Anyway..I have things to do!..page 103, 'Sewing - Covering a Coat Hanger'..oh, and going for a drink later in East London, Columbia Road for my sister-in-law's birthday..not a good night to get tipsy-drunky though as back to work tomorrow!
