We will remember them.

Given that it was Remembrance Sunday we opted for a ten mile walk in Borrowdale taking in the war memorial to the men of Borrowdale on the summit of Castle Crag. This must be the most beautiful location for a war memorial. We couldn't get there in time for the brief service but we paid our respects to those killed fighting for the freedoms we now enjoy. We had contemplated the service on the top of Great Gable but the weather forecast of strong wind and snow showers was a major deterrent.

Stunning weather and amazing views all day. Sadly on the homeward leg of the walk we had to help coordinate a call-out to Mountain Rescue. An elderly lady had fallen on the path to Watendlath and was unconscious and bleeding from a head wound. Thankfully the ambulance and the fantastic mountain rescue volunteers arrived very swiftly so hopefully the lady is now recovering in hospital. It was a stark reminder that accidents can happen to fit, well-equipped people on fairly innocuous looking paths.
