Which Thrush?
There has been a lot of fruit-related activity in the garden today. I saw this thrush arrive mid-afternoon to feed on some Pyracantha berries. My first instinct was that it was a Mistle Thrush as it looked too large for a Song Thrush, but when I checked my book, it seemed to have features of both Mistle and Song Thrush. I sent the image to my local expert. His first impression was of a Song Thrush, but then he decided it was a Mistle Thrush on the basis of the pale edges to the tertials and coverts. It makes it a garden first for us, so I'm happy with that verdict.
The extra is a Blackbird swallowing pink Rowan berries
