Glasgow comes to Bute

Today began well but mist hung low over the lochs and glens as we made our way to Colintraive to catch the ferry over to the Isle of Bute. 'We' were three members of the Glorious Gardens of Argyll & Bute marketing group who were travelling to Mount Stuart to attend a meeting. Normally we hold the meetings in Inveraray but had been offered Mount Stuart as a meeting place.

Thirteen members attended the meeting and a wonderful lunch in the glass restaurant and afterwards had a brief tour of the garden - in the minibus, as the estate is huge, we were short of time and it was raining! My Blip today is of the pavilion which was bought by the estate from the Glasgow Garden Festival and now sits in the centre of the kitchen garden. On the way back to the ferry we enjoyed a very brief visit to the garden and fernery at Ascog Hall.

I had to take a picture of this sign, on the roadside after crossing back to the mainland. I asked myself 'How is the coast secret if it's advertised on a road sign?'
