Christening gowns.

I went to the WI tonight. This evening's talk was all about christening gowns through the ages. The lady giving the talk was very informative and also allowed us to handle all of the gowns- even those dating back to the early 1800's.

Such exquisite work- you cannot quite believe that the stitching and embroidery had been done by hand. The women in those days were so skilled.

My favourite was a gown that had Ayrshire white work on it. ( See extra)
