Breakey Blips

Garden pond management

Mr A and I decided to collect 4 litres of river water to see if we could "inoculate" our garden pond with some healthy bugs and critters.

We took along bamboo canes with hooks, and tied string to the old milk carton handles - just in case we needed to reach an escaped carton.

So we ended up sitting on the remnant of a mill race wall, where many photos for blip have been taken before. It turned out that the scent of rabbit was so alluring, that despite being on leads, the dogs were willing to swim back to the river bank, almost knocking us both into the river in the excitement of the chase.
So we didn't hang around, filling the milk cartons and heading back. The dogs were happy to get out for a walk though.

The water has been deposited in the pond and we shall see how it goes. It is looking good,  the fish seem happy and I really need to get on with building the retaining walls around it.
