A Day Worth Recording

Interlaken and the Jungfrau.

A three train trip today.  We set off earlier than scheduled in order to have a little time at Montreux (still on the same lake as Geneva).  The original schedule had a mere 6 minutes there and we'd not the confidence in Swiss rail timing we later became confident to rely on.  Instead, we had an hour or so to explore a little.

Curiously there's a statue of, verging on shrine to, Freddie Mercury on the promenade beside the lake.

From Montreux, the mountain goat of a train climbed ridiculously quickly up and over and round the mountains to Zwiesimmen, where we changed (7 minutes) to a faster train that took us down and by the lakes into Interlaken.

I'd not twigged previously that Inter-Laken sits between two lakes!

The hotel this time was more of a family affair, and of Heidi-esque wooden chalet construction.  Our balcony had views over the lower mountains either side of the lakes.

That evening we wandered around the town, continually finding the Jungfrau looming over the scene, so this picture is quite typical.
