A Day Worth Recording

Geneva

Day 2 and the first of many cereal-fruit-coffee-croissant-jam-bread-cheese-salami-and-more continental breakfasts.  After a while we settled down to just having two meals a day, skipping lunch.  This made considerable economic sense as Switzerland is jaw-droppingly expensive.

We spent our one whole day here walking around the city.  Lots of city to explore and a suspect we only saw a fragment.  We spent a lot of time around the edge of the lake, and the lake area is dominated by 'the jet'.

Originally the jet was a means of releasing surplus water pressure from the system (I suspect things can overflow a bit if your water source is a mountain).  The tourist people caught on the this and now it's a powered fountain there purely for looking pretty.  If I recall the figures correctly, there's 3 tons of water in the air at any one time...

It's illuminated at night, which was quite pretty.

In the evening we found the crepe restaurant we'd failed to find yesterday, and had our first real exercise of our decidedly rusty 'O-level' French.
