Milwaukee Riverwalk....
The Milwaukee River divides the downtown area of Milwaukee in half; East being to the right and West to the left. This area where I'm standing to take this is known as "Walkers Point", and in the mid to late 1800's was a huge industrial area. By the 1960's though, the area was full of eyesores--run down buildings standing empty, trash blowing around, etc. Around 1990 there was a big resurgence in this area with investors buying up old unused warehouses and converting them into condos, restaurants and shops. The red building on the right (with the black balconies) is one of the old warehouses that was converted, and the entire area has become a very desirable place to live. The Riverwalk was extended from the downtown area into Walkers Point this past summer, giving people even quicker access to work, food, or entertainment! I've included a picture in the extras of the opposite side of the river, where they again converted and added to a huge old warehouse to make apartments, condos, shops and restaurants. As you can see, people that live there can park their boats out in front of the buildings; from this end of the river it's a straight shot out onto Lake Michigan, or they can take a leisurely cruise along the river. (I also liked the reflection!).
Tom's doing well with the chemo; we meet with the MD tomorrow for a review of his treatment. I'm sorry for my lack of commenting, but with Jennie in Chicago Mondays through Fridays for her class, Toms sisters coming each morning to stay with Mae while I take Tom for his chemo, trying to keep up with everything around the house plus caring for Mae, It's all I can do to get a picture posted. Once Jennie finishes her classes (Mid November) it will be fine! Thanks for all the positive comments, stars and favs you've been leaving. I appreciate it very much!! :))
