Uganda Trip Day 14: Fishing on Lake Victoria

My last day in Uganda - a long day of travelling...... We left for Entebbe soon after 8am and arrived at about 5pm. It ought not to have taken that long but this is Uganda! The trickiest bit was when we were stopped by the road police who were wanting us to show passports and work permits. Passports were no problem but work permits which are totally unnecessary when visiting friends or, as in the case of one of those friends, have residency and a Ugandan husband. They took a little convincing and time before they were willing for us to proceed.

However, we did have a lovely stop for an hour at Jinja on the banks of the Nile. A beautiful spot where we could relax and enjoy coffee and cake (and take photos!). I have many potential blips from there, including some monkeys who were happily running from tree to tree but a choice had to be made (and I have no extras remaining), so I've gone for a shot from our final stop, some hours later, after the traditional 'chicken on a stick' stop for lunch and hours in horrendous city traffic.

It was a wonderful way to spend our last evening before heading to the airport for our night flight. A meal at a pizza restaurant on the beach (literally) of Lake Victoria. We watch the birds fly by, the evening sky changing colour and these two fishermen catching their net. From their expressions, I think they wondered about the woman with the long lens pointed at them.... :))

Again, beat seen large!

So after lots of pizza, chat and reminiscing over the past two weeks in Uganda, we finally made it to the airport and said a reluctant goodbye to our two friends...... Always sad to say goodbye but looking forward to seeing family and friends at home!

Many thanks for the generous comments stars and hearts for the first Uganda blip that I posted yesterday! The children there were so adorable.....

Ann :))
