Bev and Sue...
Today has been a very long day... over to Witham and The J's for a very special occasion... I changed my day for work from Tuesday because Bev Barclay the Director of Nursing Care is leaving The J's to move on to other challenges and it was her leaving do this evening. Bev and everything she has done has very much shaped The J's, it was her that set up the clinical service, gained approval from the CQC and won the respect and admiration of other hospice care services and health care professionals. We shall miss her, a sad and happy occasion for us all.
I have the deepest respect and admiration for Bev and I am pleased and proud that we have not only been work colleagues but are good friends...
In the photo with Bev is Sue, who has long looked after the 'business' side of the charity and until recently the fundraising. Sue took a very small and almost unknown charity through the £1 million barrier and won the funds that Bev needed to secure the service.
And as with Bev I deeply admire and respect her and all she has achieved. Another colleague and a friendship I value greatly.
So, it has been a very long day... out at 5.45am and back home at 10pm.
