MM197 starring Charlie
I just finished doing a five-day mono challenge on FB, which kind of inspired me to try something for MonoMonday here on Blip. How fortuitous that the theme this week is "animal" and that I have a cooperative ginger tabby. Although a more traditional pose (see Extra) was tempting, I decided to break a few rules and go with this one. Rule number one that I broke was not focusing on his eyes, but instead on his nose. He has little freckles on his nose that I find very endearing.
Charlie came to us from friends who were moving abroad and couldn't take him. They'd only had him a short while and before that he was in "the system" (kitty adoption center). It took him well over a year to really settle in with us; and it took at least that long for our dowager cat, Phoebe, to accept him as a permanent member of the household. Amazingly, they even play sometimes now, although Phoebe frequently goes from play to hiss in the blink of an eye. But I digress. Suffice it to say, Charlie is a very beloved member of our family now.
The weather today continues to be foul - rain showers, windy and unpleanantly cool. Between yesterday and today, most of the maple, poplar and hickory trees have shed their leaves. The oaks are standing strong, refusing to let go their leaves just yet. But our woods are starting to get that stark look than means winter is coming. The zinnias, daisies and cosmos in my garden are still blooming although probably not for much longer.
Thanks JDO for hosting Mono Monday!
