Water

This afternoon it seemed like a good idea to take a walk along the Braeburn track (in Nelson Lakes National Park) to the waterfall at the end. I'd never done it but had heard it was a nice walk, so off we went.

The track was sodden and we had to trek through spongy beech mulch mud at times, though the trees that create the mulch were beautiful and the bird life in the trees was great - with a number of tuis and bellbirds flitting about, and the odd unidentified bird too.

But whoever calls that a 'nice' walk is crazy - the scenery is beautiful but the last 20 minutes of the track to the waterfall is punishing. And when we got there the view we had of the falls was a wee bit disappointing, though the length of the fall itself is impressive.

On the way back we followed the loop track and came across a number of much smaller, but photographically prettier, falls. This is one of them.

Had to manage this hand held as I hadn't taken a tripod.
Note to self: Take tripod next time doing this walk.
