River Thames

In London for a busy few days.  We are staying in a hotel next to the O2 prior to tonight's gig by the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan. Splendid views across the river to Canary Wharf.

Upon seeing this pylon in daylight, I wondered whether it was a recent accident or work in progress.  The purple light tells me it is, in fact, actual art. Also, this sign on the Greenwich Meridian which, according to an information board nearby is also art - by Jon Thomson and Alison Craighead. It marks the 24,859 miles "around the earth and back." If I wanted to be pedantic, I might quibble and point out that the distance around the earth and back is actually 49,718 miles.  But I won't.
