DIY SOS to the rescue!
The grand unveiling is tomorrow but the DIY SOS team (via Children in Need) has been working tirelessly at The Yard for 10 days, transforming the centre from a well-loved but worn out facility for children and young people with additional support needs into a place of wonder and magic once more. A 25 year makeover well worth the wait!
Over 200 tradesmen/women have helped each day and the DIY SOS team has delivered a £500,000 makeover with a budget of only £12,500. A true testament to the kindness and generosity of the people of Edinburgh and beyond.
Rob helped out on Tuesday and it was my turn today. I was assigned to the gardening team of knowledgeable folk from The Botanics along with another willing assistant. I can say, hand on heart, it was one of the most enjoyable days I've had. The atmosphere was amazing, the people wonderful and the SOS team a delight to deal with. The canteen food was pretty awesome too!
Rob and I are delighted to have been able to take part in such a worthwhile project and cannot wait for the grand opening tomorrow. Hankies at the ready!
