Karen makes two new friends...

Dear Diary,

A wonderful day with my dear friend Karen.  We took the ferry from Hingham to Long Wharf in Boston...a new experience for me.  We had lunch at Cheers and then just strolled around Quincy Market but the highlight of the day was watching the Harbor seals outside of the Aquarium.  I would swear this one is smiling at her!

We even went into Fanuiel Hall, the birthplace of the American Revolution.  It's fun to be a tourist in your own town.  We watched young people in their school groups learning about Boston history and we each looked at each other and almost simultaneously said, "Aren't you glad we are retired!"  We taught together for 28 years and we were so connected that we would often finish each others sentences.  Some things just don't change.

Tonight we are going to the local theater to see Dame Judi Dench in Victoria and Abdul.  I'm really looking forward to that.
