Against the flow
This morning MrM and I were watching red squirrels on the Common and, this afternoon, watching sea trout attempting to negotiate the badly designed fish pass on the Wooler Water at Haugh Head ford. We were there for around 15 minutes and, during that time, three or four fish a minute tried to swim upstream. It was quite upsetting to watch, as a huge proportion failed - either they missed altogether and slammed themselves at speed in to the metal structure surrounding the fish pass, or didn't have the strength to make it up, only to be washed back down again by the flow of water (extra).
Apart from that, it's been a day of domestic stuff and lunch. MrM is playing in Newcastle with the jazz band this evening, so he cooked us a 'proper' Sunday lunch. Very nice it was too!
