Castle house Bergh

Today my brothers and I left for our weekend away. En route we visited an impressive looking castle. Kasteel Huis Bergh. Origins from 1250, continually extended and adjusted since.

Tomorrow we'll witness the reenactment of a battle in which the Dutch fought for independence from the Spanish Kingdom. A bit like Catalonia now? ;-)

Tomorrow's battle takes place in 1627, the battle of Grolle. The Spanish army against the army of the Dutch states. In reality the battle lasted a month, we'll see the short version of an hour or so. Reenactors from all over Europe participate.
