for a Cleft Stick

Storm Ophelia has, I regret, been a terminal experience for this poor old willow tree in our garden.

On tuesday the damage did not look too bad but the cracks have begun to open up as gravity takes a hold and the tree is slowly on the move. 

We have had it examined by our tree surgeon who has agreed that it should come down and that it will not be necessary to obtain any official permission before felling it.

Mind you it was a fine old tree and with hard work will produce a large number of logs....
