Iconic

Tui's and kowhai go together like strawberries and cream....two favourite NZ natives. Our kowhai trees seem to have few flowers on them, the kereru have decimated them, but there are quite a few on the neighbours tree and I spotted a tui checking out the blossoms for nectar this afternoon. I ended up getting quite close and he wasn't concerned, he was on a mission. Loved the pollen spread over the nose. Ended up with a large number of shots so have included a couple of extras. They really are such beautiful birds and their song is stunning.
