Water lily

The water lilies are still flowering in my mother's pond, opening and closing from day to night. They give a wonderful splash of colour so late in the year. 

I cannot look at water lily leaves without half expecting to see Jeremy Fisher sitting on one of them, cross legged with his tiny fishing rod, whilst a massive pike lurks beneath. None in this pond, I hope!
