Godrevy, one week on

Apparently time still flies when you're led on the couch doing nothing, somewhat incredulous to find today is a week since the operation. Still I suppose as I don't remember the first couple of days it's been an odd span of time.
St Michael's and Mr P have been fabulous at going the extra yard to accommodate us out-of-county visitors, so today ahead of schedule we had a post-op consult and took the bandages off for the first time.  Mr P postulated that as I bled so much the bruising (extra 1) wasn't so bad, I'm amazed at how unswollen it is - Mr P has made it clear that swelling and pain are the enemy, but overall he seems pretty pleased, which I have to take as a good sign :-)
I'm back on Friday to have the stitches out, special arrangements again by staff who've put me at the heart of the process, I've been very very impressed by their level of care.
Mr P took the time to go through my recovery plan step by step (see what I did there...) and has sent me off with detailed notes for the physios back in Cumbria. It's still 3-6 months, but it's started as well as it could.
As I got back in the wheelchair to leave Mr P even had one more wonderful present.... no more injections! (extra 2) Apparently the lack of ongoing bleeding and the degree of mobility I already have means the risk of DVT is largely gone, soooo happy to hear that.

Obviously a celebration lunch was called for - we found a nice spot next to Godrevy where we could pull right up to the door, had a perfectly level floor and I could put my feet up on a spare chair - odd criteria for selecting a restaurant, fortunately the food was good too. Not however as good as the Cornish ice-cream I had in the back of the van looking out at this view.
