Patience of a Saint
Insects - the most diverse species group on the planet. Flying, crawling, stinging, biting, tiny, giant. 99% look like extras from the Alien films. This one reminds me of a weird sci-fi/horror film from a while back.
Different method today - used the extension tubes on my 18/55 kit lens. Patience of a Saint needed, as the lens ends up being about 1" away from the insect. Most of the time they just fly away. This little guy was sheltering from the wind and the threat of rain. That's the only reason I managed to get a shot of him.
Should really learn up on "depth stacking" so as to get the full insect in focus, rather than just the 'eye'...
Talking of beasties....
