Seafood Treat

It’s been one of those days when I seem to have been on my feet for much longer than I anticipated. Still I knew I had this little relish waiting for me when I eventually got home.
On the face of it it looked a straightforward day of simply taking my car in for a safety check on the airbags under a recall programme and I anticipated that I could wait while the checks were carried out.
But my anticipated wait of 30 minutes or so turned into a three and a half hour waiting period.
So I hopped on a bus to the town centre, mooched around two shopping malls and then caught a bus back to the garage.
Missed lunch, but I had my thoughts set on these little beasts at home - winkles. I treated myself to a dozen escargot in garlic butter one day last week, but dare I say it, I think the, by comparison, tiny winkles have more flavour.
Much depends on individual tastes of course and I readily appreciate that either will not be everyone’s choice for a snack. But these little devils, bought in the Farmers’ Market at the weekend and ready cooked and prepared for this evening, were on my mind throughout the afternoon.
The other gratifying part of the day was that the people giving my car a check, also washed and valeted it for me. Thank you Snows Toyota.
Now, pin at the ready, a dash of olive oil, vinegar and pepper on hand, and I shall enjoy picking into these little marvels.
