Firethorn

Today's the day ........................ to glow

It's easy to see why the common name for this vibrantly red Pyracantha  is - Firethorn.  

In the spring, its highly fragrant, bee-friendly white flowers stand out against the small mid-green foliage of this evergreen hedging plant.  But then, once the flowers are gone, the branches are smothered in bunches of glossy red berries, which make Pyracantha  hedging a great food source for wildlife.

You are also likely to find birds who will nest within the dense, prickly cover.........................
