Whale Spout Port Orford, Oregon
Port Orford provided us a whale adventure today.
The port consists of a huge hoist to lift the fishing boats out of the water onto trailers that are pulled to parking locations.
There is no actual harbor and the deep water comes right up to the shore.
As we stood on the seawall a grey whale swam into the cove, spouted and swam out again... twice.
It was not more than 150 feet from us!
Needless to say we feel quite fortunate to see, and hear, this leviathan pass by so closely.
The spout in this photo may well be from the same whale we observed so closely when we arrived down by the shore.
