Gate half shut or gate half open?

I think I'm a photographic optimist. After all, I carry my SLR and multiple lenses around with me most of the time. I have found myself poking my head into open doors and alleyways and talking to strangers (and shooting strangers) in a way I would never have done pre-blip.

Are you a photographic optimist or pessimist?

I'm posting from the train home on the slooooow wifi so limited commenting this evening.
