Queen Of The Fall Flowers.
Chrysanthemum from the Greek words chrysos, meaning gold and anthemon, meaning flower. First cultivated in China then Japan about the 8th C AD. Respect for this flower ran so deep, that a city in China was named after it, Chu-Hsien, or Chrysanthemum City. In China almost all parts have been used for medicinal purposes, boiled roots for pain relief, petals were eaten and the leaves were brewed to make a ceremonial drink. It is said to possess the power of life. My bouquet will stay in the vase !
