Up Fire Mountains

A strong breeze has been blowing all day!  And more cloudy too.  There still has been plenty of sunshine, and a warm 27 degrees.

Up early to catch the bus at 6.25am, and we headed north to Corralejo and caught the ferry to Lanzarote.  Our first stop was at a vine yard and winery in the south, amazing to see how the grapes grow with such little rain.  Next was a lava tube and albino crabs in the cave at Jameo del Agua Grotto, then continues north for lunch in the village of Haria.  When then travelled through the mountains with various photo stops.  We head for the fire mountains in the Timanfaya National Park, where we felt the head from the volcanos, saw water type geyser and watched chefs cook with the volcano heat.  We finished up at the green lake at El Golfo.  What a brilliant day out, knackered now back at the hotel.

Today's trip was all about volcanos of Lanzarote.  Learning about both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura being the oldest isles, 25 million years old but still active hotspots.  The last major eruption was  early 300 years ago, and the lava flow covers most of the isle, or it seems that way, also with the ash too.  Here looks on to five sleepy craters, still covered in ash and also spot part of the lava flow, centre right.
