No Entry at Da White Elephant!
It poured with rain all morning! It dried up at lunchtime, even sunshine this evening. A lovely calm clear night but chilly!
It's been a busy day in the museum and plenty of visitors in, think they wanted to get out of the rain. Shetland Wool Week is just around the corner, so plenty of setups to sort and also a lecture on tonight about Shetland's mining history. Mam popped by this evening, and we both nipped up to see aunt Joan in Scalloway. Been for a big walk with Sammy this evening, I could stay out all night, but the sofa is calling :)
The White Elephant has hit the headlines this week. It's a £7.3 million office building for the Shetland island council and had to be emptied due to structural problems, only completed 4 years ago. Hearsay is it's dropped 4 inches, walls are cracked and glass inside has smashed due to weight above. While it fix or will it be demolished? 200 folk had to be removed and rehoused in others offices. The 'No Entry' sign here is very fitting, and my lovely museum can be spotted in the distance and the removal men banging on the front door. Taken at North Ness, Lerwick.
