Eban-Emael

Off to visit the Maginot line in Alsace-Lorraine with my son. We stopped in Belgium overnight to visit a couple of the Belgain forts built at the same time. This corridor is deep underground in Fort Eben-Emael on the Belgian-Dutch border. Built between 1931 and 1935 it was designed to defend Belgium from a German attack. It was reputed to be impregnable but on 10th May 1940 its defences were broken in minutes when German forces used gliders to land on the roof.
