Torksey Viaduct

This morning I took a drive out to a village called Torksey which is situated on the banks of the River Trent. I had seen some shots of an old viaduct that spans the river so decided to go and search it out and take a few shots. Some of my other shots can be seen HERE. The viaduct was built in 1849 to carry to carry the Manchester , Sheffield & Lincolnshire railway over the Trent. It was strengthened in 1897 to allow bigger trains over. The line closed in 1959 and became derelict. It is a grade 2 listed structure and was restored and given to the public as a right of way in 2016 to allow  a walkway across the Trent .
