Late Bloomer
Continuing our educational series on Southern Magnolia (Magnolia Grandiflora), including this and this image, here is an unexpected shot of the tree in full bloom.
The reason for this delay is simple: this particular specimen was planted right by a building which blocks the sun for a large part of the day. It was also planted about two feet away from the said building, which means the roots are either really suffering, growing all sorts of weird ways, or simply getting ready to uplift the building. :-)
