The Trumpton Trebles

Our tower has 10 bells 8 of which came from a redundant church. The other 2 bells were gifted to us by a gentleman, a well known ringer in the county, in memory of his wife.

The other 8 bells are quite heavy so the two new bells, which were cast in Dec 2015 in the same foundry as the other 8 were cast in the 1880s, are lighter treble bells. This gives us a light front 6 or 8, depending on the number of ringers available, which are easier for less experienced ringers like us to handle.

Quite often bells are given names. Probably the most famous being Big Ben. We are considering naming our front 5 bells: Pugh, Pugh, Barney Magrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb.

On Tuesday this week we had this plaque put up in the ringing chamber.
