Here's Looking at You, Kid ......
There he was - I nearly missed him - sitting on a leaf of the Elaeagnus Ebbingei (posh eh!!) I have growing outside the front door - smaller than my smallest fingernail and blending in extremely well.
A few shots - boring - his back is quite pretty but no face, no legs visible - so touch him and push him very gently to the edge of the leaf, take the camera to just below his eyeline (out with the trusty LED torch for some extra light) and clickety-click.
Upload, crop and a slight sharpen ( that's all, folks and I don't have a macro lens either but did use the tripod) and here you have him - in all his green glory - Sheldon the Shieldbug!!! I like the way the light almost shines through him.
NOW - please take a moment to read this if you are at all interested in macro photography - go straight over (if you have the time now, if not, do it later, you won't be disappointed) to Dave's Journal Entry (Vodkaman) and read the valuable stuff he has to say about photographing bugs and all things macro.
He truly is a very, very good photographer and he explains things in a way that even I can understand!!!! I'm sure you will learn a lot just from this one journal entry of his.
On a blipadog note - Shadow is modestly keeping his eyes tight shut as he languishes under the spotlight where all you lovely blippers walked him to yesterday - we are thrilled and smiling broadly - and we thank you.
